Tango 101: The Basics

This 8 week class introduces Argentine Tango for the social dancer in fun and creative ways. We’ll work on different walks, turns, and ochos, using them to navigate the dance floor. Additional topics include musicality, technique, bodywork, and social codes. Emphasis will be on improving partner communication (mostly by getting rid of “noise”) to allow for improvisation and personal expression. By the end of the class, you’ll be able to dance at an actual Milonga (tango dance party).
Class is open to all levels. Thick socks are encouraged to be worn at the first class instead shoes.
No new students accepted after the second class on March 24th.

**Novices may try the first class for $15. 10% discount for student/military. Payments taken in person.**

Following the class is the Pittsburgh Tango Practica from 4 PM to 6PM, which includes experienced dancers and other teachers who can help new dancers work on the material. Additional cost of $5.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR

Trini Regaspi of PATangoS has been teaching tango for 20+ years and uses methods from multiple disciplines to create an effective teaching program. In particular, she uses her studies in Alexander Technique to encourage easy and natural movements, as well as, nuevo analysis to explain how figures are created. Students can also access Trini’s Youtube Channel for additional support.
