Bachata is a grounded, sensual dance that can be done with or without a partner. Originating from the Dominican Republic, this dance has various styles, all of which we teach in the studio!
Bachata 1 (No partner needed)
Beginner
This course will cover the foundations of Bachata (basic techniques, body movement).
Bachata 2 (No partner needed)
Experienced-Beginner
This course builds on the foundations of Bachata, from footwork to partnerwork.
Bachata 3 (No partner needed)
Intermediate
Bridging the gap between technique and application, this course focuses on providing reinforcement and improving intermediate to advanced partnerwork in the context of social dancing. Larger musical practice breaks will be provided.
Sensual Bachata 2.5 (No partner needed)
Advanced-Beginner to Intermediate
In this course students will learn the fundamental techniques to execute the fluid movements of the popular sensual Bachata style. This class focuses on how to prepare to lead sensual moves and the cues follows need to recognize to complete the moves.
Pre-requisites for this course include:
* Comfortable with Bachata basic foot patterns and basic turn patterns
* Comfortable following or leading basic patterns
* Basic knowledge of music and timing
All of our classes require the skills taught in the previous classes, as well as the previous levels.
Example: Bachata 2 requires that a dancer knows everything taught in the four classes of Bachata 1.
The first class of each series starts with a basic review of the material from the previous level.
Example: The first class of Bachata 3 consists of a review of the material covered in Bachata 2.
Each week we briefly review the material of the previous week, then move onto new material, and finally incorporate the new with the old in a combination for partnerwork and/or footwork.
