Some of you may know Karen as a dancer, but what you don’t know is that Karen has been a pianist since she was five years old! Music and dancing have been a very important part of her life. She has been an accompanist for musicals and choirs, played with the Kansas City Philharmonic, and has two daughters with which she and husband Randy Werrin have shared their love of music and cultural events Pittsburgh has to offer.
Catherine studied opera in Rome and Oderzo, Italy, in 2011. She then received her BA in music in 2012 from Duquesne University, where she studied music education and opera performance. In 2013, Catherine joined the Mendelssohn Choir with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. In 2015, she furthered her vocal studies at Carnegie Mellon University under the tutelage of Metropolitan Opera singer Mildred Miller Posvar.
